Saffie Gets a Nutrition Boost
posted October 24, 2010

Saffie is attending the UMC Primary School in the Wellington Community. She is the only child to a carpenter father who earns $60 a month and a housewife mother who lacks the capital to start a business as she would like.
Saffie walks half a mile everyday to and from school, uses a kerosene lamp at night to study, and sleeps on a mat spread on the bare floor. Saffie takes all of these difficult-appearing things in stride because she is striving toward becoming a businesswoman when she grows up. Because of the meager family income, the family meals have not been nutritionally balanced. They are grateful for the nutritional vitamin supplements.
Thanks Colleen for providing these supplements that are complementing Saffie’s diet and giving her the nutrition her growing body needs.

Amara Receives a New Net and Now Safe from Mosquitoes!
posted October 18, 2010

Dear J. Smith
Amara lives with his mother, father, half brothers, and half sisters in a zinc house with running water, but no electricity. Amara has known poverty since he was born. His father was working, but is currently unemployed. His mother is a gardener and the main provider of the home. She also runs a small business on the side. Her two jobs make her a mere $50 a month–by no means enough to care for her children.
Amara attends the United Methodist Secondary School in the Wellington community. Amara wants to be an engineer when he grows up, and likes to play football. At night, Amara uses a locally made kerosine lamp to study, and finishes his day on a mat spread over the bare floor.
J. Smith, thank you so much for your donation. A mosquito net guarantees a better night sleep for Amara–without the worry of mosquitoes or malaria!
