A future physician is becoming computer proficient
posted February 12, 2013
Salamatu is 14 years old and attends the Forum for Africa Women Educationalists (FAWE) Primary School for Girls in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She is in the fourth grade — mathematics and reading are her favorite subjects.
Salamatu’s mother, N’mah, is a petty trader that sells fruits in the market — her monthly income of $30 is used to help take care of the home. Her father, Abu Bakarr, is a security guard and the main provider of the home with a monthly income of $60. Salamatu, her parents, four sisters, four brothers and six dependent relatives live in a three bedroom apartment with no running water and no electricity.
Salamatu loves to learn how to use a computer as it helps her research. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up and knows computer skills will help prepare her to serve people and her country well. She is excited about this learning opportunity and deeply grateful for your support.
Thank you Tiffany, Ramesh, O M, Lauren, Cindy, Richard, Chris and Emily, and Margaret for your empowering support.

A good night sleep for Mariama
posted February 7, 2013
Thank you for supporting the Door of Hope and helping them purchase mosquito nets for individuals like Mariama, who is in the third grade at the Queen Elizabeth Elementary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She is eight years old.
Mariama is extremely thankful for your generosity, Karen, Katie, and Priyanka — she lives very close to a stream and there is very poor sanitation in her area. This means mosquitoes are everywhere. Mariama believes that, with the provision of bed net, she is now safe from malaria and will have good night sleep.
Thanks for providing a bed net for individuals like Mariama.

Family Sleeps Soundly!
posted November 20, 2012
Victor, Fatmata, Margret, Kadiatu, Alfred, and Fredicia live in Wellington, a community in the eastern part of Freetown, Sierra Leone. They reside in a single bedroom mud house with no running water or electricity. The father, Victor, is a teacher at a primary school in the community. He earns 65 dollars a month, which is not enough to cover the basic family needs.
On top off all of these obstacles, the possibility of catching malaria is very high in Freetown. Thanks to your contribution, UBS, which provided every member of this family with a treated mosquito net, the threat of malaria is no longer a risk — they can now focus on their dreams.
Fatmata, the mother, is a seamstress in training. Margret attends Browndel Preparatory school and is working to become a doctor one day. Kadiatu goes to Vickrays Community Primary School and wants to be a lawyer when she grows up. Alfred attends UMC Primary school and is still thinking about what he wants to do when he grows up. Fredicia is still an infant. Thanks again UBS for providing the family of Victor and Fatmata with treated bed nets!
