Honoring and Protecting the Elders

YELLIE_YANOH_TENNEH

Dear Andrew, Lucy, and Priya

Yellie, Yenoh and Tenneh are grandmothers, and each is being supported by one of their adult children.

Yellie lives with her son’s family in a 2-bedroom apartment that has no running water or electricity.  She helps by taking care of her grandchildren and does gardening to earn a little income.

Yenoh resides with her son’s family in a single bedroom apartment without running water or electricity. Her son earns only $80 each month to provide for his family.

Tenneh is living with her daughter’s family in a 2-bedroom apartment with neither electricity nor running water. Her daughter’s husband is the main provider, but earns only $100 per month to care for his four children, wife, and mother-in-law.

The common thread between these three are homes without electricity or running water, which makes them especially susceptible to mosquito bites.

Your thoughtful and kind gift of treated bed nets will provide the protection from malaria that Aminata, Zainab and Mohamed need. They sincerely thank you, and so do we!

FATMATA_1

Dear Laura and Evan,

Fatmata is six-years-old and dreams of serving her country when she grows up. In the meantime, she lives with her parents in a 1-bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity. Dear Art,

Mohamed, Jebbeh, Gibrilla, Gbassay, and Alhaji are not related by blood, but they are connected through need. Mohamed and Gibrilla are students, while Jebbeh and Gbassy are each mothers of four, and little Alhaji is still too young to know that he is lacking anything. Each lives without running water or electricity and their families’ incomes are far from what is required to meet even the most basic of needs.
