Isha is five years old and attends nursery school. She already dreams of becoming a teacher when she grows up.  She and her siblings are cared for by their mother, while their father works as a trader.  His income is inconsistent and the family struggles to survive on his $50 monthly income.

Different People Share A Common Need For Protection

Sarah, John and Mamusu, pictured here, represent different generations and are at different stages in life, but they all share a common need.  Sarah will soon be attending university, with plans to become a banker.  John lives with his parents and four sisters in a 2-bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity.  He wants to be a mason, but is focusing on finishing school for now.  Mamusu is a mother of five and grandmother of three.  She makes a living farming to provide for her family and earns only $50 each month.

Mabdul’s Sweet Smile

Mabdul is four years old and attends the New Hope International nursery school in Sierra Leone. Mabdul, who is in nursery two, expresses his heartfelt thanks for the provision of a bed net.

Mabdul’s mother, Mabinty, is a sweets seller and the main provider of the home with a monthly income of $40. Mabdul’s father, Abdul, is unemployed. The family’s income is not enough to cover the basic family needs and often the family cannot afford to buy Mabdul or his four brothers anything but the bare necessities.

This family lives in a single bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity. Mabdul dreams of becoming a lawyer when he grows up.

Naomi attends the Ahmadiyya Islamic primary school and is enrolled in class three. She is eight years old and extends her thanks for the provision of bed net which protects her from malaria.

Naomi’s mother is a housewife and helps people in the neighborhood. Naomi’s father, Johnny, works at a mine close to the home. He is the main provider of the home with a monthly income of $60. This income is not enough to cover the basic needs of the home. Naomi has two brothers and a sister and the family lives in a single bedroom zinc sheet home with no running water or electricity. Naomi dreams of becoming a nurse when she grows up.
