Umu is a 12 year-old girl who lives in Sierra Leone with her parents and two brothers in a single bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity. Her mother is petty trader who sells slippers for a monthly income of $40, and her father is a driver with a monthly income of $60; together this is still not enough to cover their basic family needs.
Umu is a pupil of the COMAH Junior Secondary School; her favorite subject is agriculture and she wants to be a nurse when she grows up.
Umu extends her thanks to you UBS for the uniform and pair of shoes; she is excited to now be able to tidy herself before going to school.
