Mabdul’s Sweet Smile

Mabdul is four years old and attends the New Hope International nursery school in Sierra Leone. Mabdul, who is in nursery two, expresses his heartfelt thanks for the provision of a bed net.

Mabdul’s mother, Mabinty, is a sweets seller and the main provider of the home with a monthly income of $40. Mabdul’s father, Abdul, is unemployed. The family’s income is not enough to cover the basic family needs and often the family cannot afford to buy Mabdul or his four brothers anything but the bare necessities.

This family lives in a single bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity. Mabdul dreams of becoming a lawyer when he grows up.
