A uniform for Mahawa!

MAHAWA_1
Dear Erik,

Mahawa lives in Sierra Leone in a sheet metal single bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity. Mahawa, who is eleven years old, attends primary school and is in class five.

Mahawa’s father sells small goods and is the main provider of the home with a meager monthly income of $60, which is not enough to cover the family’s basic needs. Her mother sells small goods and supports her husband by taking care of the home. Mahawa completes most of the domestic work when her parents are away working. Mahawa enjoys cooking and eating. She likes religious education and mathematics and desires to be a banker when she grows up.  Her parents were not able to afford a new uniform for her to begin school, so she is most thankful for this gift.

Mahawa expresses her sincere thanks to you Erin, for the uniform and pair of shoes presented to her. She is excited to be able to attend school clean and tidy!
