Saffie lives with her mother, father and six other children in a 2-bedroom house with no running water or electricity. Saffie’s mother is a subsistence farmer, but focuses her efforts on taking care of the home. Her father is a carpenter, but his monthly salary of $60 per month cannot mean the needs of the family.
Saffie initially enrolled in school at a late age because of challenges her parents faced. Now that she attends, however, she does not mind the half-mile walk to and from school every day. Saffie enjoys reading, singing and learning. She has already shown her commitment to education, and your gift will go a long way in boosting her confidence even more, Erik!
