Uniforms Will Help Mariatu Achieve Her Medical School Dreams

Mariatu lives in Sierra Leone, in the community of Wellington. She is ten years old and attends primary school.

She lives with her father, mother, two brothers and two sisters in a two bedroom apartment with no running water or electricity. Her father works hard as a trader, but his monthly income of $50 is just not enough to cover the basic needs of the family. Her mother tries to help  and also works as a petty trader, buying and selling small goods, and contributes a little bit to the family income.

Despite her humble beginnings, Mariatu is dreaming of becoming a medical doctor.
