Mabel Receives Support To Continue Her Education
posted December 23, 2010

Mabel is an active, smart and promising nine year old child living in a war affected area of Freetown. She lives with her father in a zinc sheet home with a room and a parlor with no running water or electricity. Mabel’s father, Sieh, is a Finance Officer and the only provider for the family. He has a monthly income of about U.S. $75 which is not enough to cover the family’s needs. Mabel’s mother Sarah abandoned the family when Mabel was seven years old.
Mabel’s father strives to provide a meal for her every day, but she often walks to school without enough food to sustain her. Mabel likes her English, Mathematics, Religious Moral Education, and Social Studies classes. Mabel loves to read and write but she must do her studies with the light from a kerosene lantern. Despite these circumstances Mabel is determined to learn and she dreams of being able to attend a university when she grows older.
Thanks Neil, Sophie, Madeleine and Jolie for providing Mabel with school tuition and lunches for a year. With your support, she can now count on having her needs met. Thank you so much!
