Mahawa Stays Healthy in Times of Struggle

MAHAWA
Dear Sophie, Karen, and Chris and Emily,

Mahawa was born on May 14, 2004. She lives with her mother, brothers, and sister in a two bedroom apartment with no running water, but with electricity in Wellington. Her father is an office assistant and the main provider of the home with a monthly income of $80–not enough to support the whole family. Her father abandoned the home and has started a new family but still supportsĀ  Mahawa and family with the same income. His continual absence from home is causing a lot of psychological and emotional problems for Mahawa. Mahawa and the rest of her family go to bed without food when her father does not pay alimony on time. Mahawa’s mother is house wife not skilled to have a job. Mahawa likes to draw, reads at her leisure and favours English and Physical Health Education in school. When Mahawa grows up, she plans on teaching
Mahawa thanks Sophie, Karen, Chris and Emily. Mahawa now has vitamins to last her a full year! With these vitamins, she can receive the nutrients she needs–even when her family struggles! Thank you so much!
