Julia lives with her parents and five siblings in an old mud house with no running water and no electricity. Her father, a labourer, is the main provider of the home. Her mother is a petty trader, and with a monthly income of $80 between the two of them, they do not make enough to cover the basic family needs.

Julia enjoys reading literature and listening to radio, and she wants to be a journalist when she grows up.
