gave 10 for a mosquito net |
posted November 12, 2010

Your gift of a mosquito net has helped Marie!
Marie is twelve years old. She lives with her stepfather, mother, two brothers, and a sister in a two bedroom home. They have no running water and no electricity.
Marie’s father has abandoned the rest of the family for over eight years now. Her mother is a petty trader. She is able to provide a monthly income of only $60, which leaves the family struggling to access even basic needs.
When times are hard at home Marie does light errands for people in her neighborhood. She likes to read, and she enjoys a good movie. On weekends, 12-year old Marie works to sell goods, in order to raise money for her lunch. Marie still dreams big: she wants to be a movie star when she grows up.
Marie’s needs are so basic, her family did not have mosquito nets to protect them from deadly, malaria-infected mosquito bites at night. Thanks to your gift, Shiba, Marie sleeps safe.
