Bright Young Student Gets a Nutritional Boost

Alice is a promising child that lives under adverse conditions. She is lucky if she has one meal each day, and she has no proper place to sleep. She usually sleeps on a mat on the floor.

Alice and her family live in single bedroom apartment with no running water and no electricity. Her father is a teacher and is the main provider of the home with a monthly income of $70 – not enough to cover the family needs. Alice does light errands to raise money to pay her school fees and also her lunch. Alice wakes up early to fetch water from a nearby tap before she goes to school (five buckets). Because they have no electricity Alice uses a kerosene lamp to study at night. In school Alice enjoys English, mathematics, and reading class. Alice wants to be a medical doctor when she grows up.
