Daniela lives with her father and mother, and six dependent relatives in a two bedroom apartment with no running water, and no electricity. Her father is a pastor and the main provider of the home with monthly income of $100, which is not enough to cover the basic family needs and to help the dependent relatives he is housing.
Her mother is a student at one of the universities of Sierra Leone studying accounting. Daniela finds it difficult to cope with the financial challenges her parents are faced with. Daniela walks two miles to church with her mother every Sunday. Daniela likes singing, dancing and reading at her leisure. The rest of the family wake up early to fetch water for domestic uses to avoid the crowd.
Daniela studies at night using a locally-made kerosene lamp, and she sleeps with three of her dependent relatives on a single bed. Daniela wants to be a medical doctor when she grows up. Thanks Jan for your support of Daniela!
