Alphonsu lives with his parents, two brothers and sister in a two bedroom house with no running water, but with electricity in Wellington. Alphonsu attends the Vicrays primary school very close to his house and he is currently in fifth grade. Alphonsu knows what it means to live with extended relatives in a small house. His father is a teacher and and makes $70 a month– not enough to cover the family’s needs. Along with caring for his immediate family, he also supports his extended family with the very same income. Alphonsu’s mother is a housewife and does not work. Alphonsu wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
Though he sleeps on a mat spread at night, he is very happy with his new mosquito net. Thank you Amanda for keeping him safe from malaria!
