Alie belongs to a polygamous family. He lives with his mother and five siblings, as well as his half mother and eight of her children. They liveĀ in a three bedroom mud home with no running water or electricity. Alie’s father died two years ago after a prolonged illness that swept away their finances. Alie’s mother is the main provider for her six children and makes $50 a month selling fire wood. Her income fails to cover the needs of her entire household. Alie helps his mother transport the wood whenever there is a purchase, and also runs light errands to raise lunch money for school.
Alie was delighted to receive his mosquito net and told us it “helps him sleep much better at night”. With a good night of sleep, he says he does better in school, and can focus on becoming a banker. Thank you Digvijay for providing Alie with this mosquito net!
