Marie lives with her mother and two siblings in a zinc sheet house with no running water and no electricity. Her father is deceased and her mother, who is just a house wife / home maker, has no steady income. Marie and her family depend on and live under the benevolence of good-hearted people who give them food every day. Her nutrition has been adversely affected and some days they get by with only one meal.
Marie has known poverty all her life. She walks to school wearing plastic slippers. She also wakes up early to fetch water from a community tap that is half a mile away from home. Marie’s mother finds it extremely hard to pay her school fees and this is has caused disruptions in her schooling.
The provision of the nutritional supplements was warmly welcomed as their diet is typically unbalanced and nutritionally deficient. Thanks, Daryl, for helping to provide better nutrition for this growing girl!
